Know the Effects of Smoking on the Skin and Quit Smoking
If you are a smoker and someone who is afraid to look old then you better stop smoking right away. We all know that smoking is dangerous to our health. It could lead to some major illnesses including lung cancer, bronchitis, pneumonia and other respiratory and lung complications. It is also proven to damage the skin and make you look older. The effects of smoking on the skin can be characterized by having premature skin aging, visible fine lines, wrinkles and it also leads to a sallow and unhealthy skin.
Smokers have the tendency to pucker their mouth when they puff their cigarettes. This causes constant contractions of the muscles around the mouth area. As a result, wrinkles develop around the mouth as well as visible fine lines and premature skin aging. The effects of smoking on the skin can also be visible on the eye area because smokers have the tendency to close their eyes tight so they can avoid the cigarette smoke to get into their eyes resulting to wrinkles around them. Studies also show that heavy smokers have an almost five-fold increased risk of wrinkles as compared to those who do not.
